Ural

The Ural is maybe the best known mountain range in Russia. It divides Russia into an Asian and European part. For us mineral collectors the Ural is immediately associated with gemmy topaz, alpine minerals from Dodo, uwarowite from Sarany and whole lot more. The Ural mountains are in reality however quite unimpressive. Most of the range are only low rolling hills, only the northern Polar Urals are a bit higher and more impressive. But even they are small compared to other Siberian ranges.
